My Bullet Journal Story
January 2017 was one of the best months I’ve had in a long time. Maybe one of the best in my life! It was rich with reflection, packed with positivity and productivity, and saturated with self-love. I focused on myself, something I had neglected to do for a long time in the midst of life changes, transitions, and intense searching.
Focusing on myself meant giving energy to all aspects of me – mental, physical, emotional, spiritual. It meant balancing my personal, social, and professional life. It meant stripping away everything that was unnecessary and negative and reevaluating my daily routine. Most importantly, it was resetting my priorities and rediscovering what made me feel happy, fulfilled, and at peace.
Bullet journaling helped me navigate this journey. In just one short month, everything shifted.
I developed positive habits that are now permanently embedded in my daily routine.
- Yoga session daily, even if it is just a couple of sun salutations.
- More home cooked meals – I know exactly what I am putting in my body!
- Studying Italian every day. Learning something new DERUSTS my brain!
- I set short-term and long-term goals and reevaluate them regularly.
A couple of new items I added for February are Pilates and meditation. Having goals written down in a tangible notebook that I create and reading them daily makes me feel accountable and drives me to execute them, FOR MYSELF. A few days ago, I was at a friend’s birthday party which lasted well into the wee hours of the morning. I arrived home at 4am with many cocktails in my bloodstream, only to look in my bullet journal and realize that I had not meditated that day. My goal was to meditate every day in February and I was not going to let myself down. So, I planted myself on the couch and gave myself the 10 minutes I promised myself. It felt amazing and I am convinced I avoided a terrible hangover because of it!
I also sleep better generally these days because I have a more productive day. I feel accomplished and can rest blissfully knowing that I deserve that good night’s sleep.
It is now the second week of February and I am looking forward to having an even better month. Have you guys tried bullet journaling? I’d love to know how it has changed your life.
